Asian Film Academy to Help Young Filmmakers

Asian Film Academy (AFA), which is an educational program designed to fostering filmmaking, will hold its sessions during September 25 – October 12, 2014 in Busan, South Korea.

Under the professional supervision of a faculty (that includes leading filmmakers and instructors) the participants experience hands-on production of short films as well as workshops, master class lecturers and special mentoring.

Selected from all over the world, 24 fellows will learn how to prepare for the film industry and provide new possibilities for Asian cinema. They will produce 2 short films which will be officially presented in the 19th Busan International Film Festival.

The educational sessions will be held at Busan Cinema Center, Dongseo University Centum Campus, Busan Tourism Organization Arpina, and other venues.

Since its inception in 2005, AFA has devoted itself to foster Asian talent in cinema through the collaboration of young filmmakers and to create an international network among them.

Prominent directors such as Hou Hsiao Hsien, Im Kwontaek, Abbas Kiarostami, Mohsen Makhmalbaf, Kurosawa Kiyoshi, Krzysztof Zanussi, and Jia Zhangke have served as deans of AFA and nurtured its fellows.

With its team of film directors and Korean filmmakers, AFA provides a platform to Asian filmmakers to promote their work in the international market.
