Mumbai, India – Saiyaara, one of the most anticipated young romantic films of our times, is generating significant buzz, further amplified by the recent release of its new song, “Dhun”. The film’s promising trajectory towards success is underscored by a blend of crucial elements and notable collaborations within the industry.
The newly released song, “Dhun,” is described as a celebration of the struggle in love and life, emphasizing the motivation that real struggle can provide to overcome obstacles. Director Mohit Suri elaborated that “Dhun” is a celebration of the spirit of never giving up, acknowledging that “life is not a bed of roses”.
A core driving force behind the film’s success is the reunion of the acclaimed musical trio: Arijit Singh, Mithoon, and Mohit Suri. This “dream musical trio” previously created historic chartbusters, including the iconic “Tum Hi Ho” from Aashiqui 2. Mohit Suri expressed that when he, Mithoon, and Arijit come together, they know audiences expect a memorable song, an expectation they relish as it fuels their creativity. He noted that the universe consistently brings them together to create “a very simple but a very powerful emotional song”.
Director Mohit Suri’s 20-year musical journey with Mithoon began in 2005 with Zeher and Kalyug. Their extensive body of work includes successful film music albums for films like Murder 2, Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, Hamari Adhuri Kahaani, Half Girlfriend, and Malang, now adding Saiyaara to their list. Similarly, Arijit Singh, widely regarded as one of India’s all-time best singers, shares a strong collaborative history with Mohit Suri, having delivered soulful hits such as “Tum Hi Ho” and “Chahun Main Ya Naa” from Aashiqui 2, “Humdard” in Ek Villain, and “Chal Ghar Chalen” in Malang. Suri considers these songs “pieces of my heart”.
Beyond the musical synergy, Saiyaara marks a significant first-time collaboration between Yash Raj Films (YRF) and Mohit Suri. Yash Raj Films is renowned for crafting timeless love stories, while Mohit Suri, in his 20th year in cinema, has a strong track record with popular romantic films including Aashiqui 2, Malang, and Ek Villain. This combination brings together established expertise in the romantic genre.
The film also benefits from the “infectious chemistry and brilliant acting skills” of its debutants, Ahaan Panday, who is launched as a YRF hero, and Aneet Padda, introduced as the next YRF heroine. Furthermore, the film’s musical success was evident even before “Dhun”s release, with its album featuring popular songs like Jubin Nautiyal’s “Barbaad,” Vishal Mishra’s “Tum Ho Toh,” and Sachet-Parampara’s “Humsafar” already making waves on musical charts across India.
Bollywood film Saiyaara is produced by Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on July 18, 2025.
