Disney’s Avatar: Fire and Ash continues to lead the global box office, raking in $169.6 million worldwide this past weekend. The film has officially crossed the prestigious $1 billion cumulative mark, with a total worldwide gross currently standing at $1,083,124,602. According to the sources, the film’s success this weekend was heavily driven by international markets, which contributed $129.6 million compared to a domestic take of $40 million.
Following in second place for the weekend is another Disney powerhouse, Zootopia 2, which earned $81.7 million. While it trailed Avatar this week, Zootopia 2 holds the highest cumulative worldwide total on the charts with a staggering $1,588,247,129.
The middle of the pack saw strong competition from a variety of genres. The Housemaid secured the third spot, bringing in $42.26 million for the weekend and pushing its total cumulative earnings to over $133 million. In fourth place, The Spongebob Movie: Search for Squarepants earned $31 million, while the thriller Anaconda rounded out the top five with a weekend gross of $23.4 million.
The bottom half of the top ten features several international titles and niche hits. Buen Camino took the sixth spot with $18.39 million, followed by Marty Supreme at seventh with $16.65 million. Rounding out the list were Back to the Past ($16.1 million), Prostokvashino ($12.18 million), and Buratino ($12.11 million).
