
Disney Dominates Global Box Office as ‘Send Help’ Claims Top Spot

LOS ANGELES — In a powerful showing for the weekend ending February 1, 2026, Disney secured the top three positions at the global box office, according to data compiled by Comscore. Leading the charts was the debut of ‘Send Help’, which earned $28.1 million worldwide during its opening weekend.
The new release, distributed by Disney, saw its strongest performance in the domestic market, where it brought in $20 million across 20 territories. The film added another $8.1 million from 48 international territories to round out its first-weekend total.
Holdovers and Milestones
Disney’s dominance extended to its established hits, which continue to reach massive financial milestones. ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash‘ took the number two spot for the weekend, earning $24.8 million. This performance pushed its worldwide cumulative total to a staggering $1,413,826,673.
Close behind in third place was ‘Zootopia 2’, which brought in $23.1 million for the weekend. The animated sequel has now reached a total global cume of $1,776,957,359, solidifying its status as a massive commercial success.
New Entries and Independent Hits
The weekend also marked the arrival of ‘Iron Lung’, an independent film that debuted in the fourth spot with $21.5 million worldwide. The film’s earnings were heavily weighted toward the domestic market, which accounted for approximately $17.8 million of its opening total. Another new entry, ‘Shelter’, landed at number six with a $13 million worldwide debut.
Mid-Chart Performers
Lionsgate’s ‘The Housemaid’ maintained a strong presence at number five, earning $19.9 million for the weekend and bringing its total earnings to date to $315.7 million. Other notable performers in the top ten included:
- ‘Mercy‘ (AMZMGM): Earned $10.3 million for the weekend, bringing its total cume to $41 million.
- ‘Marty Supreme’ (A24): Added $9.9 million to reach a cumulative total of $133.4 million.
- ‘Hamnet’ (Focus): Brought in $9 million, pushing its total to $57.6 million.
- ‘Border 2‘ (ShreeIntl): Rounded out the top ten with a weekend take of $8.4 million and a total cume of $42.6 million.
