MUMBAI—IMDb, a leading source for information on movies, TV, and celebrities, has announced its annual list of the 10 most popular Indian movies and 10 most popular Indian series of 2025. The rankings are based on the actual page views accumulated from the more than 250 million monthly global visitors to the platform. To qualify for the lists, titles must have been released in India between January 1 and November 30, 2025, and hold an average IMDb user rating of 6 or higher.
Saiyaara and The Ba***ds of Bollywood Take Top Honors
The musical romance Saiyaara was named the Most Popular Indian Movie of 2025. The No. 1 ranking series was The Ba*ds of Bollywood.
Yaminie Patodia, head of IMDb India, commented on the significance of the lists, stating they “demonstrate the boldness and innovation of Indian creators”. She highlighted the industry’s vibrancy through the diverse range of storytelling, which spans genres from romance and animation to satire and superhero epics. Patodia added that it is particularly encouraging to see “distinctly Indian stories and cultural narratives resonating with audiences around the world”.
Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films and producer of Saiyaara, noted that the film’s recognition is a moment of immense pride, as it “has not only set new benchmarks but has connected with audiences across India and the world, cutting across geography, age, and culture”. Widhani expressed gratitude that the film has become iconic for YRF and the industry. He credited director Mohit Suri for bringing deep emotion and praised debut actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda for delivering confident, heartfelt performances that instantly connected with global audiences.

The director of the top-ranking series, Aryan Khan, stated that seeing The Ba*ds of Bollywood as the most popular web series aligns exactly with their goal to “shake the room and own the conversation”. Khan wanted the show to define an entire genre in the modern era and become a “pop cultural phenomenon”. He emphasized that the show was told without “soft edges” and that the global audience response—including the memes, fan edits, and obsession—shows the show is “becoming part of culture, not just a weekend watch”.
