LOS ANGELES – The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon is bringing a touch of Hollywood glamour to its grueling 26.2-mile course. In a newly announced collaboration with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the marathon will transform a portion of its route into a high-profile red carpet experience for participants on race day, Sunday, March 8.
The transformation will take place at Mile 11, located on the iconic Hollywood Boulevard. Designed to mimic the prestige of the upcoming 98th Oscars, the section will allow runners to experience the famous red carpet and snap photos as they pass the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, the longtime home of the Academy Awards.
“The Academy celebrates the passion, excellence and hard work of our global filmmaking community, and we look forward to sharing this excitement with the runners ahead of the 98th Oscars,” said Jennifer Davidson, the Academy’s Chief Marketing, Communications and Content Officer.
The 2026 marathon, produced by The McCourt Foundation, is expected to host over 26,000 runners. The race follows the “Stadium-to-the-Stars” course, beginning at Dodger Stadium and concluding near the Avenue of the Stars in Century City. Organizers view the Mile 11 collaboration as a way to honor the participants’ dedication.
“Partnering with the Academy allows us to celebrate our runners as the stars they are,” said Murphy Reinschreiber, Chief Operating Officer of The McCourt Foundation. He noted that the red carpet experience at Mile 11 serves as a “fitting celebration” of Los Angeles, blending the city’s signature “grit and glamour”.
This interactive experience serves as a prelude to the 98th Oscars, which will take place the following week on Sunday, March 15, 2026. The ceremony will be televised live on ABC and streamed on Hulu starting at 4 p.m. PT.
