
‘One Battle After Another’ Dominates 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards with Six Wins

LONDON – The 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards concluded on February 22 at The Royal Festival Hall, where the film One Battle After Another emerged as the evening’s biggest winner. Hosted by Alan Cumming and broadcast on BBC One, the ceremony celebrated the most outstanding creative talents in global cinema from the past year.
Top Honors and Major Winners
One Battle After Another secured six BAFTAs, including Best Film, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, and Editing. The film also earned Paul Thomas Anderson his first-time win for Best Director, while Sean Penn took home the award for Supporting Actor.
Other significant winners included:
- Sinners: Won three categories, including Original Screenplay for Ryan Coogler and Supporting Actress for Wunmi Mosaku.
- Frankenstein: Swept the craft categories with three wins for Costume Design, Make Up & Hair, and Production Design.
- Hamnet: Honored as Outstanding British Film, with Jessie Buckley winning Leading Actress.
- I Swear: Earned two awards, including Casting and Leading Actor for Robert Aramayo.
Milestones and Rising Stars
The night was marked by several historic “firsts,” as performers Jessie Buckley, Robert Aramayo, Wunmi Mosaku, and Sean Penn all secured their first-time BAFTA Film Award wins. Additionally, Ryan Coogler achieved a win with his first-ever BAFTA nomination.
The public-voted EE Rising Star Award was presented to Robert Aramayo, capping off a double-win night for the actor. In other categories, Zootropolis 2 won for Animated Film, and Sentimental Value was named the best Film Not in the English Language.
Special Recognition and Performances
The BAFTA Fellowship, the Academy’s highest accolade, was presented by HRH The Prince of Wales to Dame Donna Langley. Langley was recognized for her transformative leadership and commitment to inclusion within the industry. Clare Binns, Creative Director of Picturehouse Cinemas, received the award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema.
The ceremony featured high-energy and emotional musical moments, including a live performance of “Golden” by KPop stars HUNTR/X. Singer Jessie Ware performed “The Way We Were” during a moving In Memoriam segment dedicated to industry members lost over the last year.
