The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced a major organizational shift, appointing Amy Homma as the Director and President of both the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and the Academy Collection,. This elevation marks the first time the Academy has united all collections, conservation, preservation, and exhibition components under a single leadership role.
Homma will now oversee the Academy Collection, the world’s largest film-related archive, which houses more than 52 million items. Academy CEO Bill Kramer stated that bringing the museum and collections teams together is a “logical evolution” intended to expand the reach of these resources and enhance their use for research and scholarship. Homma will work alongside Executive Vice President Matt Severson to align these preservation efforts and make cinematic history more accessible to the public and future filmmakers.
