NEW YORK — European Film Promotion (EFP) has officially issued a public call for Film Sales Support (FSS) to bolster the presence of European cinema at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival, scheduled to take place from June 3 to June 14, 2026, in New York.

The initiative is designed to assist European world sales companies in executing both classic and digital marketing campaigns for recent European films. The funding specifically targets promotional efforts aimed at buyers and distributors in countries outside of Europe.

Funding and Eligibility

The FSS offers an investment of up to 50% of total promotion costs, with a maximum grant of €5,000 per campaign based on an overall spend of €10,000. In a move to encourage diversity, EFP is also offering an additional €500 “Top Up Grant” for films that demonstrate gender balance, equity, and inclusion.

To be eligible for support, films must meet the following criteria:

  • Production: Must be majority-produced European films from a country part of Creative Europe Media.
  • Format: Feature-length fiction, animation, or documentaries with a minimum length of 60 minutes.
  • Recency: Recent finished films with an original copyright established in 2025 or 2026.
  • Festival Status: The film must be selected for any section of the Tribeca Film Festival.

While the FSS covers digital and physical marketing investments, it does not cover travel or hotel expenses for festival attendance.

Application Details

European world sales companies interested in applying must be registered in the European Commission’s Funding & Tender Opportunities Portal and approved by their respective national film promotion institute. Sales agents or hired publicists must either be attending the festival in person or registered with an online badge.

For companies with multiple films selected for the festival, the application allows for the inclusion of up to five films. Additionally, a separate application process is available for the promotion of films from Switzerland, supported by the Federal Office of Culture, Media Desk Suisse, and SWISS FILMS.

The deadline for all applications is May 20, 2026. Interested parties can submit their applications through the official EFP online portal.
