EFP (European Film Promotion) has announced the 27th edition of PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE, its flagship program designed to spotlight the most promising emerging film producers across Europe. The upcoming edition is scheduled to take place during the 79th Cannes Film Festival, running from May 12 to May 23, 2026.
The program will select 20 producers from 20 different European countries based on their international track records and future potential. To ensure a high standard of talent, candidates are chosen through a rigorous points-based selection process after being nominated by their respective national film promotion institutes.
Key eligibility criteria include experience with at least one international co-production and having films that have either screened at major international festivals or achieved distribution outside of their home countries.
For 2026, the initiative will utilize a hybrid format to maximize collaboration opportunities. The program begins with preparatory online sessions from April 28 to April 30, followed by an intensive on-site schedule in Cannes two weeks later. Selected participants will take part in a tailored series of activities, including:
- Project pitching and one-on-one meetings.
- Curated case studies.
- High-level networking events aimed at fostering international partnerships.
In addition to these activities, the participants will benefit from a comprehensive international promotion campaign, providing visibility in leading trade publications and online platforms.
Since its inception 26 years ago, PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE has supported the careers of 546 producers, strengthening cross-border collaboration within the European film industry. The program is financially backed by the European Union’s Creative Europe – MEDIA Programme, Eurimages, and EFP’s member organizations.
Producers interested in participating in the 2026 edition are encouraged to contact their national film promotion institutes to begin the nomination process. For further information, the program is overseen by EFP Programme Director Jo Mühlberger.
