The Golden Globes has officially opened its application portal for new voters for the 84th Annual Golden Globes, signaling a search for fresh perspectives in the international journalism community. Entertainment journalists who work for internationally based media outlets are eligible to apply, whether they are currently based inside the United States or abroad.

Prospective voters must meet a rigorous set of professional standards to be considered for the role. Applicants are required to provide at least five examples of their published or aired work from a specific 12-month window spanning February 2025 to February 2026.

The organization has established strict boundaries regarding what qualifies as professional journalism; notably, work appearing on personal blogs, self-published websites, personal podcasts, YouTube channels, or social media platforms is explicitly excluded from consideration. Additionally, all submitted work must be original and cannot include interviews where the journalist served as a guest or source.

The selection process emphasizes ethical integrity and impartiality. Once an applicant receives provisional acceptance, they must review and sign several key documents, including the Golden Globes Code of Conduct and a Conflict of Interest Policy. These disclosures are then reviewed by an independent law firm to verify that the applicant can serve as an unbiased member of the voting body.

Interested journalists are encouraged to submit a diverse range of work that showcases the depth and scope of their experience. However, time is of the essence, as the deadline for submissions is strictly set for 6:00 PM PST on Friday, March 16, 2026, with no late applications accepted. While the organization prepares for its 84th ceremony, the 83rd Annual Golden Globes is currently available for streaming on demand.
