WASHINGTON, D.C. — National Geographic has announced the latest installment of its Emmy-winning “Secrets of” franchise, titled SECRETS OF THE BEES, which is set to premiere this spring. Executive produced by Academy Award-winner James Cameron and hosted by BAFTA and Emmy-winning Explorer Bertie Gregory, the two-part series will debut on the National Geographic channel on March 31 at 8/7c before streaming on Disney+ and Hulu on April 1.
The series aims to uncover the hidden lives of bees, utilizing groundbreaking filming technology to showcase their intelligence and complex social structures. Working alongside entomologist and National Geographic Explorer Dr. Samuel Ramsey, the production captured never-before-filmed moments that highlight the “astonishing architecture” of the bee world.
“For its fifth anniversary, ‘Secrets of’ turns its lens to one of Earth’s smallest yet most vital heroes: bees,” executive producer James Cameron stated in a press release. He emphasized that bees are “socially complex, fast-thinking individuals” whose impact on both humanity and the natural world is “immeasurable”.
SECRETS OF THE BEES is produced by Silverback Films, a world leader in natural history filmmaking known for projects such as Our Planet and Wild Isles. The series serves as the centerpiece for National Geographic’s Earth Month initiative in April 2026, a global storytelling effort intended to inspire a deeper commitment to protecting the environment.
The production team includes executive producers Maria Wilhelm for Lightstorm Earth and Pam Caragol for National Geographic. Series producers Alastair Fothergill and Huw Cordey join producer and director Nadége Laici in bringing this microscopic world to a global audience.
As part of the broader Disney and National Geographic partnership, the series will be accessible to millions of households worldwide, furthering the brand’s mission to inspire fans to “connect with, explore and care about the world” through factual storytelling.
