Netflix has officially confirmed production for its upcoming Korean series, The Dealer, revealing a star-studded cast led by Jung So-min, Ryoo Seung-bum, Lee Soo-hyuk, and Ryu Kyung-soo. The crime drama follows the transformation of a brilliant casino dealer who is forced back into a dangerous underworld to save her future.
A Wedding Derailed by the Underworld
The series centers on Jung Geonhwa (played by Jung So-min), an exceptionally skilled dealer who has spent her life avoiding the vices of the gambling floor. However, when a housing scam destroys her wedding plans, Geonhwa must unleash her long-hidden powers and plunge into the high-stakes world of gambling to ensure she successfully makes it down the aisle.
Joining her in this perilous journey are:
- Hwang Chisu (Ryoo Seung-bum): A man living hand to mouth who survives by gambling with whatever cash he can find until he joins Geonhwa’s dangerous plan.
- Jo Jun (Lee Soo-hyuk): A master casino player known for his impenetrable poker face and razor-sharp skills that raise the tension at every table.
- Choi Wooseung (Ryu Kyung-soo): Geonhwa’s fiancé and a relentless detective who shows a gentle, affectionate side to his partner but never lets a suspect escape his grasp at work.

The Dealer marks the directorial debut of Choi Young-hwan, an acclaimed cinematographer celebrated for his work on major hits such as Veteran and Tazza: The High Rollers. He is expected to bring a dynamic visual style to the “glitz, tension, and allure” of the casino setting.
The project boasts significant industry pedigree with Hwang Dong-hyuk, the director behind the global phenomenon Squid Game, serving as a producer. Firstman Studio, the production company that developed Squid Game, is also on board to produce the series, which is written by Ohnooy and Lee Tae-young.
Featuring a distinctive ensemble and a lineup of veteran creators, The Dealer is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Netflix.
