Netflix is set to open the new year with a blend of magic and romance in its upcoming series, “No Tail To Tell,” which is scheduled to premiere on January 16, 2026. The light fantasy romantic comedy stars Kim Hye-yoon (Lovely Runner) and Lomon (All of Us Are Dead) in a story that explores what happens when a supernatural “wish” creates a very human problem.

A Chaotic Collision of Magic and Reality

The series follows Eun-ho (Kim Hye-yoon), a cynical nine-tailed fox, or “gumiho,” who has spent centuries on Myohyangsan Mountain cultivating herself. According to Korean folklore, these mythical creatures grow a tail for every good deed, eventually becoming human once they reach nine tails. While Eun-ho once sought humanity, she has since decided she prefers her orderly, supernatural life.

However, her world is turned upside down when she crosses paths with Kang Si-yeol (Lomon), a narcissistic yet warm-hearted star soccer player for Thames FC. Though he is a divisive talent who prefers solo dominance over team play, his routine life is disrupted when an accident involving a wish gone wrong turns Eun-ho into an ordinary human. The two are thrown into a “love-hate” relationship defined by snappy one-liners and the supernatural colliding with real-world emotions.

Mysterious Connections and Promotional Events

The plot is further thickened by a mysterious business card that Eun-ho gave to Si-yeol nine years prior, which resurfaces to complicate their present-day entanglement. Netflix describes the show as a playful twist on traditional folklore with a modern sensibility, focusing on the “chaotic romance” that arises when the heart breaks its own rules.

To generate excitement ahead of the release, Netflix will stream a New Year Live Talk featuring the lead cast on January 12 at 8:00 p.m. KST. Fans can tune in via Netflix Korea’s TikTok or the Netflix K-Content YouTube channel to see the actors discuss the series before its official launch on January 16.

The relationship between the cynical fox and the star athlete is much like a high-stakes soccer match played on a magical field; no matter how well you know the rules, one unexpected “wish” can completely change the score and leave both sides scrambling to keep up.
