Light Chaser Animation announced Tuesday that it has reached an agreement with Alibaba Pictures to distribute and co-finance its first animated movie, Little Door Gods.

Little Door Gods marks the first animated movie co-financed by Alibaba Pictures. Yu Zhou, producer of Little Door Gods, highlighted Alibaba Group’s immense influence in the internet industry, including its vast user base and extensive product ecosystem, as a key resource for the project.

As Alibaba Group’s core arm in the field of culture and entertainment, Alibaba Pictures has positioned itself in various areas of the movie industry over the past year, demonstrating its ambitions to upgrade and transform the Chinese culture and entertainment industry.

“We appreciate Alibaba’s confidence and commitment towards Little Door Gods, and we will work together to bring our work to the Chinese and world audience,” Yu said.

An Alibaba Pictures spokesman stated, “Little Door Gods is a top-quality film, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to work with Light Chaser on this project and leverage our strengths in promotion and distribution. This project is very much in line with our strategic goal of servicing the cultural industry and upgrading its overall competitiveness.”

Little Door Gods was completed in August and will be released in China on January 1, 2016.
