(New York, NY) — April 22, 2026 — Discovery Channel is expanding its weather-focused programming with the premiere of a new docu-series spinoff, “In the Eye of the Storm: Chasers,” scheduled to debut on Sunday, May 17 at 10 PM ET/PT.
The six-part series aims to bring viewers directly into the path of nature’s most violent tornadoes through the lenses of those who track them. Following the success of “In the Eye of the Storm,” this new iteration features twelve teams of certified weather spotters and professional storm chasers during one of the most active tornado seasons in decades.
In a departure from traditional filming methods, the series relies entirely on self-shot footage. There are no producers or camera crews; instead, the chasers use their own camera rigs and advanced weather technology to document their high-stakes encounters in America’s Tornado Alley. The series highlights the dual mission of these teams: to capture nature’s power while providing life-saving warnings and assistance to communities in harm’s way.
The premiere episode showcases a volatile tornado outbreak near Gary, South Dakota. Viewers will see veteran chasers like Reed Timmer, operating his high-tech armored vehicle “the Dominator,” navigate a competitive field of weather streamers. The stakes escalate when the storm intensifies to an EF-3, leading chasers Brandon Copic and Will Vollman to transition from observers to first responders as they launch a search-and-rescue mission at a destroyed farmhouse.
Throughout the season, the series will feature a blend of industry veterans and a new generation of chasers. Notable participants include:
- Veterans: Reed Timmer, Randy Hicks, and Brandon Copic.
- New Generation: Tanner Charles, Freddy McKinney, Sarah Kassabian, and Connor Croff.
Upcoming episodes will feature harrowing footage of a historic EF-5 tornado in Enderlin, North Dakota, as well as missions across Minnesota, Nebraska, and into Canada.
Produced by Arrow Media, “In the Eye of the Storm: Chasers” joins Discovery’s roster of high-stakes adventure programming. Audiences are invited to join the conversation on social media platforms using the hashtag #EyeoftheStormChasers.
