When everything that could go wrong was going wrong, a dozen holy men arrived in Radon. Tall and stout, barefooted, and dressed in long saffron cloaks, they carried brass pots and metallic tridents. Their long, uncombed hair and flowing beards, combined with the dazzling glow on their faces, made them a striking sight.

The people of Radon identified the ascetics as worshipers of the sea god Poseidon, or Neptune, whose traditional symbol was a three-pronged spear.

The holy men pitched their tents on the outskirts of the Radon capital. They were nomads who travelled from place to place with altruistic objectives and normally survived on food and other offerings from local people.

But Radon was different.

No one came forward to offer them food or even water. The ascetics were surprised by the indifference. Why were the people behaving this way? Were they unhappy with their king? Were they suffering from excessive taxation or crime? Or had some terrible grief overwhelmed the entire kingdom?

A mysterious group of holy men arrives in drought-stricken Radon, led by Maxworth, whose extraordinary healing powers soon attract the attention of King Goodhat.

They stopped a passer-by and asked about the uneasy calm that had descended upon Radon.

The man initially remained silent. But when questioned further, he finally explained the reason.

Radon was suffering from a persistent and devastating drought.

The drought had affected everything. People were suffering. Livestock were disappearing. Vegetation and crops had been destroyed. The local people had prayed to the rain gods, but their prayers had gone unanswered.

The holy men immediately recognized the gravity of the situation.

Their chief was named Maxworth. After exchanging a few glances with his companions, Maxworth decided that they should do something for the troubled kingdom, although they did not yet know exactly what that would be.

News of the holy men’s arrival soon spread throughout Radon. People began visiting their camp in the hope that the saints might somehow alleviate their suffering.

The change was immediate. People started bringing food to the ascetics and attending Maxworth’s morning and evening prayer meetings. His spiritual discourses offered the distressed population a measure of peace and hope.

Radon struggles through drought and disease, Maxworth and his ascetics bring hope to the kingdom—and unknowingly enter the story of Robojit.

Gradually, people began approaching Maxworth with their personal problems, particularly illnesses that had spread during the drought.

One person pleaded with the saint to help cure the unknown diseases that were afflicting the kingdom.

Maxworth promised to do whatever he could to relieve their suffering.

His treatment appeared remarkably simple. He gave each patient a pinch of ash from his holy fire while chanting certain mantras.

The results seemed extraordinary.

The ash appeared to cure even severe and almost incurable diseases. For the suffering people of Radon, Maxworth’s mysterious ash became a source of hope.

Word of the saint’s miracles eventually reached King Goodhat.

The king was intrigued. He wanted to meet Maxworth personally.

“I must meet him,” Goodhat decided.

He sent for Samwel, his trusted adviser.

The arrival of Maxworth and the holy men had thus created a new possibility in the troubled Radon kingdom—and brought them directly into the orbit of its king.
