IMAX Corporation and The Walt Disney Studios, a division of The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS), have announced that live-action Cinderella will be released in IMAX theatres globally beginning March 13.

It is directed by Academy Award nominee Kenneth Branagh and starring Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett as the Stepmother and Lily James in the title role.

A live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale, Cinderella is written by Chris Weitz and produced by Simon Kinberg, Allison Shearmur and David Barron. Tim Lewis served as executive producer.

The story of Cinderella follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother.

Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home.

But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family.
