LONDON—IO Interactive, the acclaimed studio known for the HITMAN franchise, has officially released the first trailer for its new action-adventure title, 007 First Light. Developed in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, the game offers a fresh, standalone, story-driven reimagining of James Bond’s origins, set for release in 2026.
The new game will put players into the role of a young James Bond, following his journey from a talented but rebellious Royal Navy air crewman to a recruit for MI6. The story explores his entry into the agency’s legendary and newly re-established elite double-0 programme, marking the true beginning of his transformation into 007. Fans will, for the first time, experience the early days of Bond within MI6, tracing how a promising 26-year-old recruit is forged into a fully fledged spy.

007 First Light is a third-person action-adventure title that merges IO Interactive’s signature stealth and combat mechanics with the rich narrative world of Bond and MI6. The game features an immersive backdrop of global espionage, requiring players to travel to exotic locations and encounter formidable allies and enemies.
Players will navigate challenges with a choice of approach: utilizing brute force, cunning guile, or charming wit. Furthermore, they will leverage Bond’s unique skills, manage complex relationships, and utilize the latest technology provided by Q Branch as he ascends to become 007.
The narrative introduces a host of new characters, including Bond’s mentor, John Greenway, and the enigmatic Isola. Familiar faces will also appear, such as M, Q, and Moneypenny.
