The anticipation for the return of the BAFTA and RTS award-winning drama Blue Lights has reached a new high with the official release of its series four trailer and promotional artwork. Scheduled to return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer in autumn 2026, the series promises another intense, gripping look into the lives of response officers on the front lines of policing in Belfast.

Belfast Officers Under Pressure

Now three years into their demanding roles, Constables Grace Ellis, Tommy Foster, and Annie Conlon find themselves operating at their absolute limits. The team faces a formidable new threat on the streets of Belfast that the police force can barely contain.

Adding to the tension is the high-profile murder trial of Gerry Cliff. The legal proceedings threaten to expose a dangerous and long-buried secret, sparking chaos both within the police department and throughout the criminal underworld. As the officers grapple with major decisions regarding their professional and personal futures, they must summon the courage to face their greatest threat yet: the truth.

The fourth series features the return of the show’s core cast alongside several notable guest stars. Siân Brooke returns as Grace Ellis, alongside Martin McCann as Stevie Neil, Katherine Devlin as Annie Conlon, and Nathan Braniff as Tommy Foster.

The six-part drama, consisting of 60-minute episodes, is co-created, written, and executive produced by Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson. Stephen Wright of Two Cities Television serves as co-creator and producer, while Louise Gallagher of Gallagher Films is co-creator and co-producer. The production receives support from Northern Ireland Screen.

Brendan Mullin serves as the producer for the fourth series. Director Angela Griffin helms the first three episodes, while Sam O’Mahony directs the final three episodes. The series was commissioned by Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, with Nick Lambon representing the BBC as executive producer.

Reflecting the global appeal of the franchise, BBC Studios is handling international sales for series four, alongside all previous series. Blue Lights has already been successfully sold in more than 160 territories worldwide.
