The 36th Cinemed International Mediterranean Film Festival of Montpellier is taking place from Oct. 25 – Nov. 1, 2014.
The festival is accepting film submissions in various categories. The deadline is July 15 for shorts and documentary films and August 31 for feature films.
The Mediterranean Film Festival was founded in 1979 by the enthusiasts running Ciné-club Jean-Vigo, a Montpellier film club that has been active since the mid-1950s.
Initially called ‘Rencontres avec le cinéma méditerranéen’, the event became the ‘Festival International du Cinéma Méditerranéen de Montpellier’ (Montpellier International Festival of Mediterranean Film) in 1989. It has included a competition section since then.
According to the festival, its objective is to spread the knowledge of cinema of the Mediterranean zone, the Black Sea, Portugal, and Armenia.
It holds various events that link the common components connecting the cinema from these regions.
