HBO Max Makes Exclusive Indian Debut Through Expanded JioHotstar Partnership

MUMBAI — April 15, 2026 — JioHotstar and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) have officially announced a significant expansion of their partnership, establishing JioHotstar as the exclusive home for HBO Max in India. Effective today, the launch introduces a dedicated HBO Max hub within the JioHotstar platform, offering a unified destination for premium storytelling from brands such as HBO, Max Originals, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, and DC Studios.
This collaboration marks a major shift in the Indian streaming landscape. Kevin Vaz, CEO of Entertainment at JioStar, described the launch as a “defining moment“ for premium global content access in India, noting that the partnership combines massive scale with high-quality curation to provide a more immersive experience for viewers. James Gibbons, President of APAC at WBD, highlighted India as one of the world’s most “vibrant streaming markets,” stating that the move will allow WBD to build deeper connections with local fans.

Unprecedented Content Library: The new hub brings a massive catalog of globally celebrated series to Indian audiences. Key highlights available now or arriving later in 2026 include:
- New Seasons: The third seasons of the critically acclaimed Euphoria and House of the Dragon.
- Highly Anticipated Originals: The upcoming DC Studios series Lanterns and the first eight-episode season of the new Harry Potter original series, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
- Streaming Favorites: For the first time, JioHotstar subscribers can access perennial favorites Friends and The Big Bang Theory, alongside other popular shows like The Last of Us, The White Lotus, Succession, and Game of Thrones.
- Blockbuster Films: The platform will also host major film franchises, including the complete Lord of the Rings collection and the DC Universe slate.
Pricing and Accessibility: To ensure wide accessibility, the HBO Max hub is being offered as an add-on pack starting at ₹49 per month. This pack not only grants access to the new HBO Max content but also includes JioHotstar’s existing international library, providing a comprehensive selection of local and global entertainment.
