Lynette Howell Taylor Re-elected as Academy President for 2026-2027 Term

Oscar-nominated producer Lynette Howell Taylor has been re-elected as President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by its Board of Governors for the 2026-2027 term. She will lead a slate of newly elected and returning officers as the organization prepares for its upcoming 100th anniversary.

The Board of Governors for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has officially re-elected Lynette Howell Taylor to serve her second term as President. An Oscar-nominated producer known for her extensive work in the film industry, Howell Taylor will continue to lead the world’s premier film organization, which represents over 11,000 industry professionals globally.

Joining Howell Taylor in leadership for the 2026-2027 term are several distinguished officers elected by the Board:

Lesley Barber (Music Branch): Vice President and chair of the Membership Committee.
David Dinerstein (Marketing and Public Relations Branch): Vice President/Treasurer and chair of the Finance Committee.
Jennifer Fox (Producers Branch): Vice President and chair of the Awards Committee.
Lou Diamond Phillips (Actors Branch): Vice President and chair of the Equity and Inclusion Committee.
Howard A. Rodman (Writers Branch): Vice President/Secretary and chair of the Governance Committee.

While most of these leaders were re-elected to their positions, this term marks the first officer role for David Dinerstein. Academy CEO Bill Kramer expressed gratitude for the officers’ commitment, noting their vital role in supporting the industry and the Academy’s mission as the organization moves toward its centennial celebration.

Lynette Howell Taylor’s distinguished career includes producing over 25 films, notably the eight-time Oscar nominee “A Star Is Born,” for which she received a Best Picture nomination. Her other credits include “Captain Fantastic,” “The Accountant,” and “Blue Valentine”. Beyond film production, she also produced the 92nd Oscars show in 2020, earning an Emmy nomination for her work.

Under Academy regulations, a president may serve up to four consecutive one-year terms. The Board of Governors, which sets the strategic vision and ensures the financial health of the Academy, consists of members who generally serve up to two three-year terms, with a lifetime maximum of 12 years of service.
