Netflix and AMC Global Media have signed a multi-year licensing agreement granting co-exclusive streaming rights for the original The Walking Dead and all six spin-off series. On July 30, 2026, Netflix and AMC Global Media solidified a major multi-year global licensing agreement designed to centralize “The Walking Dead” Universe for streaming audiences worldwide. Under this new pact, both companies will share co-exclusive streaming rights for the legendary original series as well as its six diverse spin-offs.

Since 2011, Netflix has served as the exclusive U.S. streaming home for the flagship series. This updated agreement significantly broadens that scope, extending availability to new international markets including the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand. Starting in 2027, the full catalog—totaling 371 episodes—will be available globally on Netflix and on AMC+ where the service is available.

A Massive Library: The new Netflix-AMC agreement covers 371 episodes across the original ‘The Walking Dead’ and all six spin-off series.

The content library included in this deal features:

  • The Walking Dead (The original 11-season run)
  • Fear the Walking Dead
  • The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon
  • The Walking Dead: Dead City
  • The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live
  • The Walking Dead: World Beyond
  • Tales of The Walking Dead

“Audiences have discovered and loved The Walking Dead on Netflix for nearly 15 years,” stated Lori Conkling, Vice President of Licensing at Netflix, noting that the partnership aims to bring the “entirety” of the universe to a global fan base. Kristin Dolan, CEO of AMC Global Media, added that the agreement creates a “global destination” for the franchise, making the intellectual property more accessible than ever before.

Global Access: Expanding beyond the U.S., the deal brings the zombie apocalypse to Netflix subscribers in the UK, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand.

Crucially for AMC+ subscribers, the co-exclusive nature of the deal allows the original series to debut on the AMC+ platform for the first time in early 2027.

Since its 2010 premiere, The Walking Dead has evolved from a critically acclaimed genre piece into one of the most influential franchises in television history. With 177 episodes in its original run, it helped redefine premium scripted storytelling and built a passionate, enduring global community that continues to fuel new spin-off content. This latest deal ensures that the “timeless IP” will remain a cornerstone of the global streaming landscape for years to come.
