Spider-Man: Brand New Day Dominates Global Box Office with $1.6 Billion Total Milestone

Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its massive box office reign, earning $381 million globally for the weekend ending August 9, 2026. The blockbuster has now surpassed a staggering $1.66 billion in total worldwide earnings, leading a weekend where major franchises like The Odyssey and Toy Story 5 also crossed the billion-dollar threshold.

The global theatrical market showed immense strength for the weekend ending August 9, 2026, driven by a mix of superhero spectacles, epic dramas, and family-friendly animation. According to the latest Comscore estimates, Spider-Man: Brand New Day remains the undisputed champion of the box office. The film pulled in $381 million globally over the weekend, with $236 million coming from 68 international territories and $145 million from the domestic market. Its total worldwide cumulative earnings now stand at $1,665,089,000.

In the second spot, Universal’s The Odyssey continues its impressive run, generating $110.7 million worldwide this weekend. The film has officially joined the billion-dollar club, reaching a cumulative total of $1,104,805,000 across 83 international territories and the domestic market.

The weekend also saw the debut of PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie, which secured the third position with $23 million in international earnings from 30 territories. Meanwhile, animation veterans continue to hold their ground; Disney’s Toy Story 5 brought in another $13.2 million, pushing its lifetime worldwide total to a massive $1,093,981,614.

Other notable performers in the top ten include the independent feature All Wishes Come True!, which has amassed over $208 million to date, and the specialized release Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island, which earned $11.9 million this weekend in limited Asian markets. Universal’s Minions & Monsters also continues to draw crowds, nearing the $500 million mark with a current cumulative total of $473.5 million.
