National Geographic has announced the premiere of a new seven-part docuseries, “Pole to Pole With Will Smith,” which is set to debut on January 13 on National Geographic worldwide,. The series, which was five years in the making, follows Smith as he travels across all seven continents, journeying from the South Pole to the North Pole over a period of 100 days.

The expedition takes Smith through some of the planet’s most extreme environments, including the icefields of Antarctica, the jungles of the Amazon, the Himalayas, and the Arctic. Throughout the journey, he is guided by a team of scientists, explorers, and local experts to navigate challenges designed to test his mental and physical resilience,. These challenges include skiing to the South Pole, milking a venomous tarantula, catching a giant anaconda, and diving under the ice at the North Pole.

Beyond the physical feats, the series emphasizes scientific discovery and human connection. Smith interacts with indigenous communities, such as the Waorani in the Amazon and the San people in the Kalahari, to learn lessons about resilience and the future of the planet. Smith described the experience as an exploration of the “planet’s edges” and the “extraordinary people living there,” noting that the beauty of the world inspired him with awe and hope.

Episodes will be available to stream the next day on Disney+ globally and on Hulu in the U.S.. The series is produced by Westbrook Studios, Nutopia, and Protozoa, marking Smith’s third collaboration with National Geographic following “One Strange Rock” and “Welcome to Earth”.
