Netflix Unveils Polish Psychological Drama ‘The Law of Beasts’
Netflix has officially announced the upcoming release of The Law of Beasts, a highly anticipated Polish drama series directed by Kasper Bajon. Scheduled to debut on November 18, 2026, the four-part series delves into the dark complexities of justice, friendship, and the immense burdens of state service.
A Haunting Investigation and a Fateful Decision
The narrative begins in 1988, a turbulent year when Poland is deeply shaken by the brutal murders of four young boys. The high-stakes investigation is led by Major Anna Bersz, played by Agnieszka Grochowska. To assist in the case, she enlists her close friend, expert psychiatrist Agnieszka Grabska, portrayed by Agnieszka Żulewska. Grabska is tasked with evaluating the sanity of the primary suspect, Mariusz Trynkiewicz, played by Michał Pawlik.
As the clock ticks and pressure mounts within a rigid system that demands certainty, the two women make a critical, high-stakes decision. This choice ultimately shatters their friendship and alters the trajectories of their lives forever.
Revisiting the Past: Twenty-Five Years Later
The story fast-forwards twenty-five years to the year 2014, when the convicted murderer is scheduled for release from prison. Now a public official, Anna must once again cross paths with Agnieszka, who has become a highly respected expert in psychiatry.

Together, they are forced to confront the legacy of the decision that drove them apart decades earlier. As they look back at the case, they face a classic legal and ethical dilemma: how can society protect its citizens from dangerous individuals without abandoning the core, fundamental principles on which the rule of law is built?
Inspired by True Polish Legal History
At its core, The Law of Beasts is inspired by the actual historical events that prompted the creation of what is commonly referred to in Poland as the “Beast Law.” The series explores the human cost of upholding state institutions when justice and safety clash.
Director and co-writer Kasper Bajon described the series as “a story about people who, in serving the state and its institutions, are forced to make impossible choices.” Bajon added that the show “explores what happens when the law, our sense of justice and the need to keep society safe cannot be reconciled.”
