Amazing Spider-Man and Neighbors Conquer the Box Office

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Universal Pictures’ comedy Neighbors stayed at the top of box office for the past weekend.

Movie performance measurement company Rentrak Corporation (NASDAQ: RENT) announced Sunday the worldwide weekend box office estimates for the weekend of May 11, 2014.

The dats is compiled by the company’s Box Office Essentials and International Box Office Essentials theatrical measurement services.

“Internationally it was a friendly neighborhood for Sony’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” in a whopping 90 territories, web-slinging to a $69.5 million weekend and nearly $551 million to date globally,” said Rentrak’s senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian.

“Meanwhile, on the other end of the genre-spectrum Universal’s hit comedy “Neighbors” proves that frat-house antics are culturally transcendent with $34.4 million in 29 international territories and $85.5 million in its first weekend worldwide.”

According to Rentrak, the top-12 domestic weekend box office estimates listed in descending order, per data collected as of Sunday, May 11, 2014, are below.

1. Neighbors – Universal – $51.1M

2. Amazing Spider-Man 2, The – Sony – $37.2M

3. Other Woman, The – 20th Century Fox – $9.2M

4. Heaven Is For Real – Sony – $7.0M

5. Captain America: The Winter Soldier – Disney – $5.6M

6. Rio 2 – 20th Century Fox – $5.1M

7. Mom’s Night Out – Sony – $4.2M

8. Legends Of Oz – Freestyle Releasing – $3.7M

9. Divergent – Lionsgate – $1.7M

10. Brick Mansions – Relativity Media – $1.5M

11. Grand Budapest Hotel, The – Fox Searchlight – $1.5M

12. God’s Not Dead – Freestyle Releasing – $1.3M
