Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd.’s (ZEEL) content studio, Essel Vision Productions Ltd., has released a first look at action hero Vin Diesel’s supernatural thriller The Last Witch Hunter to moviegoers in India, the company announced today.
Essel secured the rights to market and distribute the film from Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF) and is releasing it in theatres across India on Thursday October 22, 2015.
The Last Witch Hunter features an ensemble cast led by global action icon Diesel, Academy Award-winning Michael Caine and Rose Leslie, widely acclaimed for her role as Ygritte in the blockbuster series Game of Thrones. It is directed by Breck Eisner.
Essel’s distribution partnership with Lionsgate on The Last Witch Hunter is another milestone in the Indian content studio’s goal of becoming the premier producer and distributor in the territory, says the company.
The film tells the story of Kaulder, The Last Witch Hunter (played by Diesel), who is all that stands between humanity and the combined forces of the most terrifying witches in history.
Essel Vision says it will also make its first foray into Hindi motion pictures in October with the release of Jazbaa, starring a local actress Aishwarya Rai Bachnan and actor Irrfan Khan.
